Boudh, Apr 6: Manamunda Police in Boudh district foiled a major attempt to smuggle cannabis to another state, seizing over 2 quintals of ganja packed in more than 50 sacks.

Acting on a tip-off, the local police, in coordination with the Boudh SDPO, conducted a special operation in the Kantamal block. During the operation, the police officials intercepted a Bolero pick-up vehicle and conducted a search.

On search , the officials found huge cache of ganja.

Following this, the cannabis was seized and the driver of the vehicle, identified as Ramanuj Patel who hails from Chhattisgarh, was arrested.

Speaking at a press conference, the Boudh SDPO highlighted the swift action taken by the police team, comprising officers from Manamunda police station and other personnel.

The accused, Ramanuj Patel, is set to be presented before the court. This operation underscores the proactive measures taken by the police to curb illegal activities and protect the community, said the senior official.
