Jagatsinghpur, Aug 7: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor trade, Erasama police conducted a raid near Godapaldhuabandh and seized over 107 litres of foreign liquor being smuggled into the region.
Two persons, identified as Biren Das from Markandpur village and Satrughna Samal from Titira village, were arrested in connection with the case.
Police have registered a case against the accused persons under Sections 257/25 and 256/25 of IPC, and were produced in court following their arrest.
Station Officer Premjeet Das confirmed the details and emphasised the department’s commitment to curbing the illegal liquor trade.
The seized liquor, believed to be of foreign origin, was being transported for unauthorized sale.
The raid was part of an intensified drive by local law enforcement to tackle rising cases of illicit alcohol distribution in coastal Odisha.
