Odisha: Teachers Stage Protest In Bhubaneswar A Day Before Matric Exam

Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: Even though just a day is left for the Matric Exams, Odisha Secondary School Teachers' Association (OSSTA) staged a sit-in protest on the Lower PMG Road here today, much to the dismay of students and their parents.
The teachers sat on a dharna to press for execution of their three 'legitimate' demands, as claimed by them. The demands include full grants to 194-category schools, 7th pay scale payment and execution of old pension.
"We want the194 schools be provided full grants soon. Teachers should be paid scale of pay as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. We also demand that retired teachers should be paid pension as per old pension rules," demanded the agitating teachers.

✨There are currently 30,000 OSSTA teachers in the State.
The teachers' association has threatened not to provide cooperation in matric examinations which are scheduled to begin in the State tomorrow if their demands are not met by today evening.
