Puri, June 23: Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb today asserted that the Prasad of Shreemandir is only Mahaprasad and the Prasad of other temples is not Mahaprasad at all.

"As it is wrong to say any other Jagannath temple, barring Puri Shreemandir, as Jagannath Dham, it is likewise wrong to say Prasad of other Jagannath temples as Mahaprasad," said the Gajapati, who is popularly known as Thakur Raja or the first servitor of Lord Jagannath.

He said the Prasad of other Jagannath temples is called only Jagannath Prasad.

Gajapati expressed unhappiness, saying that the Prasad of Digha Jagannath temple is being promoted as Mahaprasad.

It may be noted that rice is named differently at various stages from the collection to the offering. When collected, it is called Chaula (raw rice), but when it is taken into the kitchen for cooking, it is called 'Amunia'. Cooked rice is called 'Anna', and when carried into the temple, it is called 'Chheka'. Chheka is offered to Bhairabi first. It is here called Bhoga. Then it is offered to the Trinity, where it turns into 'Naivedya'. Then, it is offered to Goddess Bimala and is called 'Mahaprasad'. When distributed among devotees, Mahaprasad is called 'Abhada'. When dried, Abhada is called 'Nirmalya'.
