Cuttack, July 13: At least one person died, and four others were injured after they were struck by lightning in a village in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Sunday.


The deceased has been identified as Pradeepta Kumar Khatua (45), son of Anama Khatua, a resident of Sindhupur village under Bhadreswar police limits in the district.


According to sources, the incident took place this afternoon when the victims were working at an agricultural field in Sindhupur village.

Following the incident, all the victims were rushed to Mahanga Hospital, where doctors declared Pradeepta as “brought dead”. The four injured people are currently receiving medical treatment.


After getting information, local police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.


Local residents expressed grief over the unexpected loss of life and appealed for financial assistance from the government for the victims’ families.
