OMFED Milk Gets Costlier: Prices Hiked by ₹2 per Litre Across Odisha

Key Points

OMFED milk prices increased by ₹2 per litre for consumers; premium half-litre packs up by ₹1.
State government to subsidize 50% of the hike to ease consumer burden.
Dairy farmers to receive ₹3 more per litre under revised procurement rates.

Bhubaneswar, Jun 21: The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced a fresh hike in milk prices. Consumers will now pay ₹2 more per litre for all OMFED milk variants, while the price of premium half-litre packs has increased by ₹1.

As per the revised rates:

- OMFED Gold Milk has risen from ₹52 to ₹56 per litre.
- Toned Milk has gone up from ₹46 to ₹50 per litre.
- Premium Milk (500 ml) now costs ₹27, up from ₹26.

The state government has clarified that while the retail price has increased by ₹4 per litre, it will bear 50% of the burden through a subsidy, ensuring that consumers pay only ₹2 more.

This price revision comes alongside a ₹3 per litre hike in procurement prices for dairy farmers, a move aimed at supporting over 2.5 lakh milk producers across the state.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, during the World Milk Day celebrations, emphasized that the decision balances consumer affordability with farmer welfare.

Additionally, the government has introduced new OMFED products, including A2 milk and ghee from the indigenous Binjharpuri cow breed, and extended financial assistance under the Kamadhenu Yojana to boost dairy development.
