Bhubaneswar, Sep 21: A chilling murder case has rocked the state capital after the mutilated body of an Ola driver, identified as Vidyadhar, was recovered from the Chandaka-Baranga roadside five days after his reported abduction.
Police suspect he was strangled inside a car and his body dumped in a remote area.
According to sources, Vidyadhar had left home on September 15, claiming he was heading to Jajpur. He never returned. While his family waited anxiously, they received a call from an unknown number demanding ₹2 crore for his release. The caller claimed Vidyadhar had been kidnapped.

✨Investigations led police to a woman operating a consultancy firm in the Khandagiri area. She had reportedly rented Vidyadhar’s car on a monthly basis. The woman, now detained by Badagada police, is suspected of being involved in a massive job scam, allegedly defrauding multiple job seekers of nearly ₹3 crore under the pretext of employment offers.
Sources reveal that Vidyadhar was also linked to the consultancy and may have been involved in its operations. When job aspirants began demanding refunds after failing to secure promised positions, tensions escalated between Vidyadhar and the woman. Police suspect this dispute may have led to his murder.
The woman is currently being interrogated, and further
investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the scam and any
additional accomplices.
