Odisha’s New Law Commission Office Inaugurated In Bhubaneswar With Grandeur

Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: The third floor of the Toshali Bhavan in Bhubaneswar now houses the newly inaugurated Law Commission office. The ceremonial housewarming was conducted by the Law Commission officials, and the formal inauguration was graced by Odisha’s Law Minister, Prithviraj Harichandan.

Notable personalities such as Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, Justice Biswanath Rath, and senior officers Soura Chandra Mohapatra and Surya Prasad Mishra joined the occasion to mark this significant event.

The newly-established office aims to bring reforms that streamline and strengthen the legal framework in Odisha. The previous government had initiated steps towards setting up a Law Commission, but the progress remained incomplete.

However, the new government successfully operationalised the commission, winning accolades from Justice Biswanath Rath, who thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the Odisha government, and Law Minister Harichandan for their efforts.

Justice Rath expressed optimism about the commission’s active role in serving Odisha’s citizens. He highlighted that the Commission would address necessary legal amendments and introduce new laws that reflect modern needs.

The new office is expected to foster a collaborative environment, enabling members to work efficiently toward these objectives.

The inauguration marks a turning point, promising enhanced legal governance and robust administrative support for Odisha’s citizens.
