CM Majhi promises investor-friendly policies and targets Odisha as Eastern India’s manufacturing hub.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: In a landmark move to accelerate Odisha’s industrial growth, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stones for 27 new industrial projects across 12 districts during a ceremony held at the OUAT Convention Centre.

The projects, collectively valued at ₹25,380 crore, are expected to generate over 52,000 employment opportunities across sectors such as chemicals, textiles, cement, food processing, and pharmaceuticals.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi emphasized Odisha’s emergence as a trusted destination for investors and reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming the state into Eastern India’s manufacturing hub. He highlighted that the BJP-led government, within just 15 months of assuming office, has approved 260 industrial projects worth ₹5.6 lakh crore, creating potential for 3.6 lakh jobs.

The Chief Minister also noted that 84 projects have already reached the groundbreaking stage, attracting over ₹2 lakh crore in investment and generating 1.64 lakh jobs. Of the 1.07 lakh jobs created in the last 15 months, 80% have gone to Odia youth, reinforcing the government’s focus on inclusive development.

CM Majhi assured industrialists of a supportive policy environment, free from bureaucratic hurdles, and promised swift resolution of any issues faced during project implementation. He also took a dig at the previous government, stating that earlier initiatives like “Make in Odisha” remained largely limited to MoUs without successful execution.

The new projects span 16 sectors and will be implemented in districts including Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Khordha, Koraput, Angul, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Cuttack, Puri, Sambalpur, Jajpur, and Rayagada. Major investments include SRF Limited’s ₹10,000 crore facility in Ganjam and Epsilon Carbon’s ₹5,806 crore plant in Jharsuguda.

With this push, Odisha aims to redefine its industrial landscape and empower its youth through sustainable employment and regional development.
