Bhubaneswar, Mar 9: Former MLA and ex-Minister Ananta Das has passed away at his residence in the capital city of Odisha. He was 85.
The demise of former Bhograi (in Balasore district) MLA has left the region in mourning.
Ananta Das transitioned into politics in 2004 after a career in administrative services. Representing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), he served as the MLA of Bhograi for four consecutive terms. He also held the position of Minister of Higher Education and Industry.
He had also held the position of Chairman of the District Planning Board. Additionally, he served as the Chief Whip of the BJD for two terms.
