Key Points

Odisha Yatri will showcase its integrated mobility and citizen safety ecosystem at Urban Mobility India 2026 in Bhubaneswar. The platform has completed 10 lakh trips, supports 6.34 lakh users and has become India's first state-owned platform combining mobility services with emergency safety features.

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: Odisha Yatri, the State's technology-enabled mobility platform, will showcase its expanding digital mobility ecosystem and citizen-centric innovations at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2026, which is set to be held in Bhubaneswar under the theme, "Urban Accessibility & Liveability in the Digital Age", officials said.

The event assumes added significance as Odisha becomes the first state in eastern India to host the Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo, the flagship annual forum of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The conference brings together policymakers, urban transport experts, technology providers and industry stakeholders to discuss emerging trends and innovations in sustainable urban mobility.

First-of-its-kind safety integration

A key highlight of Odisha Yatri's participation will be the presentation of its newly launched Safety Module, which has positioned Odisha as the first state in India to offer integrated mobility and citizen safety services through a single state-owned digital platform.

The initiative combines transportation services with public safety mechanisms through integration with Odisha Police and the national emergency response system, 112. The Safety Module, available on both Android and iOS platforms, offers 11 safety features, including Shake to Alert, SOS assistance, alarm activation, emergency contact support and live location sharing.

The One-Tap SOS feature enables users to instantly connect with the national emergency helpline, while the safety platform has already been rolled out to nearly 1.86 lakh users across the state.

Rapid growth in mobility services

Odisha Yatri has also recorded significant growth in its core mobility operations. The platform has completed over 10 lakh trips and currently serves 6.34 lakh registered users with the support of 18,600 enabled drivers across five cities.

One of its distinguishing features is its 100 per cent pass-through model, under which the entire fare amount reaches drivers without any commission being retained by the platform. This model has generated approximately ₹15.5 crore in earnings for drivers.

The platform achieved its highest monthly performance in January 2026, when it facilitated 60,000 trips generated from 3.28 lakh ride searches, indicating rising public acceptance of app-based mobility services.

Expanding ecosystem

Beyond ride-hailing services, Odisha Yatri is steadily evolving into a broader mobility ecosystem. The platform currently supports Ama Bus services in four cities and boating services at Satapada through a partnership with the Dolphin Boat Association.

Officials said the integration of transportation and emergency response services reflects Odisha's commitment to leveraging technology for citizen welfare. By combining mobility, safety and public service delivery on a unified platform, Odisha Yatri aims to create safer, more accessible and inclusive urban experiences.

Hosting UMI 2026 offers Odisha an opportunity to showcase these innovations to national and international stakeholders. The platform's journey reflects the state's broader vision of technology-driven governance and its contribution to the goals of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat through sustainable, citizen-focused urban development.
