Puri, Dec 2: Amid colorful shows, the 35th Konark Utsav kickstarted near the world-famous Sun Temple at Konark In Odisha's Puri district on Sunday evening. The festival will continue till December 5.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the festival. Classical dances were performed on the open pandal to mark the beginning of the six-day festival. 

Besides, the annual Sand Art festival was also inaugurated on the golden sandbed at Chandrabhaga. More than 100 sand sculptors, including some from America, Australia, and Sri Lanka have participated in the sand sculpture festival. As many as 38 stalls are showcasing the sand art. 

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Jagatsinghpur MP Dr Bibhu Prasad Tarai graced the festival. 

The Konark town and Chandrabhaga sea beach areas have worn a new look with glittering lights and other decorations.
