Sambalpur, Aug 6: The water level in Odisha's Hirakud Dam increased significantly following continuous inflow of water into the reservoir, officials said on Tuesday.
The inflow of water increased significantly in Hirakud Dam today due to the heavy rainfall in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi river in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, they added.
At 6 AM today, the inflow into Hirakud Dam was 2,74,849 cusec while the outflow was 2,46,765 cusec of water.
The water level of Hirakud Dam stood at 610.17 ft against the full reservoir level of 630 ft at 6 AM.

✨Currently, the water of Hirakud dam is being released through 14 gates.
On July 28, the authorities of Hirakud Dam opened 20 sluice gates of the total 67 gates of the reservoir to release the dam's first flood water of this year's rainy season.
