Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: Odisha woke up to tremors Tuesday morning as an earthquake of 5.1 magnitude was recorded in the Bay of Bengal near Puri.
The quake was recorded at 6.10 am and the tremors were reportedly experienced for two to three seconds. The report also says that coastal areas of Odisha, especially Puri, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack, felt the tremors.
According to IMD, the earthquake was recorded at latitude 19.52 N and longitude 88.55 E. Report says, that the centre of the tremor was 286 km from Puri, 297 km from Bhubaneswar and 394 km from Berhampur.
Balasore’s Chandipur experienced tremors for a few seconds as people rushed out of their home after watching their phones and tables wobbled a bit. There is report of Bangladesh experiencing the tremors.
