Koraput, Jun 19: Odisha Vigilance on Friday launched simultaneous searches at seven locations linked to Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kotpad in Koraput district, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Multi-District Searches Underway
According to Vigilance sources, the raids are being conducted to ascertain whether Sethy possesses assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Searches are underway at his official government residence and office in Kotpad, a rented house in Parabeda area of Jeypore, a flat owned by him in Jatni of Khordha district, and his ancestral house at Derabish in Kendrapara district.

Agricultural Land Under Scanner
As part of the investigation, Vigilance officials are also examining agricultural land reportedly owned by Sethy at Taragaon mouza under Borigumma tehsil in Koraput district.

Officials are verifying land records, bank accounts, investment details and other financial documents to assess the extent of his movable and immovable assets.

Large Vigilance Team Deployed
The search operation is being carried out by a sizeable Vigilance team comprising seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine Inspectors, 11 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and supporting staff.

The coordinated raids are being conducted under the authority of search warrants issued by the competent court.

Verification Of Assets In Progress
Vigilance officials said the ongoing exercise aims to determine whether the assets allegedly accumulated by the engineer are commensurate with his legitimate sources of income.

Searches were continuing at the time of filing this report. A detailed inventory of properties, documents and any valuables detected during the raids is expected to be released after the operation concludes.

The investigation is underway.
