Sambalpur, Jun 23: The Odisha Vigilance Department has launched a massive raid against Padmalochan Nayak, Executive Engineer of the Command Area Development Authority (CADA), Sambalpur Division, following allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.

The searches, carried out simultaneously at seven different locations across the state, have unearthed a staggering amount of property and valuables linked to Nayak and his family.

According to Vigilance officials, the raids revealed two multi-storeyed residential buildings, 15 valuable plots spread across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur, Baleswar, and Puri, and cash amounting to ₹3.45 lakh along with foreign currency notes from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bahrain, and the USA. The technical wing of Vigilance is currently assessing the measurement and valuation of these properties.

The raids were conducted by a large team comprising four DSPs, 13 Inspectors, and seven ASIs. Vigilance officers also interrogated Nayak at his CADA office in Dhanupali, Sambalpur, while searches continued at his rented house and other properties.

Nayak, however, dismissed the allegations as baseless, claiming that no cash was recovered from his residence and attributing the raids to a court notice.

Officials stated that the raids are part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of disproportionate assets, and further details will emerge as searches continue.

The Vigilance Department has emphasized that the inquiry is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in public service.

The final valuation of the unearthed assets is expected to reveal the full extent of the alleged disproportionate property.
