Bhubaneswar, Sep 29: Odisha Vigilance has intensified its crackdown on corruption, trapping two government officials in separate cases.
In Badachana block, Assistant Engineer Bandita Dash was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹35,000 from a contractor to clear pending bills.
During the raid, Vigilance officers seized ₹5,15,200 in cash and gold ornaments from her residence at Jaganmandap near Kataka.

✨Das, along with her close associate Mr. Sethy, was apprehended during the trap operation. Officials confirmed that searches are still underway at multiple locations linked to her, suspecting disproportionate assets.
In another case, Umakanta Samantaray, Assistant Director of the Factories and Boilers Department in Sambalpur, came under Vigilance radar for amassing disproportionate assets.
Acting on credible evidence, a special team conducted simultaneous raids at seven locations, including his office and residences in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Khordha.
Properties under scrutiny include a duplex house near Nandan Vihar in Bhubaneswar, a residence near Indus College of Engineering, a three-storey house at Baliguali in Puri, and a two-storey house at Balugaon in Khordha.
The raids were carried out under search warrants issued by the Sambalpur Vigilance Court, with a team comprising 8 DSPs, 11 Inspectors, 11 ASIs, and other staff.
