Bhadrak, Sep 23: In a major crackdown on financial irregularities, Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Sudarsana Khatua, former Secretary of the Bamanbindha Service Co-operative Society under BBCC Bank Ltd., Tihidi, Bhadrak district, for embezzling government funds amounting to ₹13,32,260.
The arrest was made following an investigation that revealed Khatua had manipulated official records under multiple financial heads. He allegedly withdrew savings bank deposits belonging to society members, misrepresented balances in the Day Book, and inflated Mondi labour charges beyond the rates prescribed by the government.

✨The case has been registered under Balasore Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 13/2025), and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the misappropriation and identify any potential accomplices.
Khatua will be produced before the court, and the Vigilance
team is expected to seek custodial interrogation to trace the flow of funds and
recover the embezzled amount.
