Bhubaneswar, Mar 7: Odisha Vigilance department Friday arrested Deputy Commissioner of the State Transport Authority (STA) Pradeep Kumar Mohanty for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to reports, over Rs 17 lakh in cash, approximately 2.1 kg of gold, three gold biscuits and several bank accounts were seized during raids at the residence of Pradeep Kumar Mohanty.

The sleuths have also found banned Rs 2,000 currency notes from his possession.

Apart from these, bank deposits and household articles worth lakhs were found from the possession of the accused officer.

The anti-corruption team led by 2 Addl SsP, 13 DSsP, 12 Inspectors, 25 ASIs, and other supporting staff launched the search operations at nine locations including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, and Cuttack.

The search were conducted at the residential house at Maitri Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, four BHK Flat at Raghunathpur, Bhubaneswar, farm house at Kusupalla, Ranapur, Nayagarh, five storeyed under construction building at Govindaprasad, Bhubaneswar, house of his native Place at Tangi, Khordha, relative house at Bhakti Ratna Lane, Jenari Gachha Chowk, Puri town, Petrol Pump in the name of his relative at Malipada, Bhubaneswar, under construction building in Balikhand, Puri in the name of his relative, his office at Cuttack.
