Hansdah was caught red-handed at Jaipur Chhak on the Paradeep–Cuttack NH-53 roadside after demanding the bribe from an applicant seeking recommendation of his licence application to the Drug Controller’s office in Bhubaneswar. The complainant had applied for the licence in May 2025 and, after repeated delays, reported the matter to Vigilance authorities.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance laid a trap. Hansdah
asked the applicant to meet him at Jaipur Chhak, where he took the bribe inside
his Wagon R car. The Vigilance team immediately nabbed him and recovered the
entire tainted amount from his possession.

✨Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched at Hansdah’s office and residence. Officials later unearthed unaccounted cash totalling Rs1,78,700, including Rs1,25,200 from his Jagatsinghpur office and Rs53,500 from his personal possession. The seized cash has been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
A case has been registered at Cuttack Vigilance Police Station under Case No. 34 dated September 2, 2026, U/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Vigilance officials said that further searches are continuing to assess disproportionate assets linked to Hansdah.
