Subarnapur, Feb 4: Vigilance officers on Tuesday arrested Budu Bhoi, ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) of the Birmaharajpur Police Station in Subarnapur, on the charge of demanding and taking bribe of Rs 6,000 from a person to release his motorcycle seized in an accident case on January 1, 2025.
According to a Vigilance release, the complainant had been requesting ASI Bhoi to release his motorcycle since it was seized last month. But, Bhoi was demanding a bribe Rs.6,000 each time to release the same each time.
With no option left to get back his two-wheeler, the complainant approached the Vigilance and narrated the harassment meted out to him by Bhoi.
Based on the complaint, the Vigilance laid a trap and nabbed accused ASI Bhoi while taking a bribe of Rs 6,000 from the complainant today. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused.

✨Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going at two locations of Bhoi from DA angle, according to the official statement.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case (PS Case No. 01 dt.03.02.2025 U/s 7 P. C.( Amendment) Act, 2018) against the ASI.
Investigation is underway.
