Odisha Unveils Global FinTech Hub To Train 7,000 Students

Bhubaneswar, July 31: In a landmark move to position Odisha as a global leader in digital financial technologies, the state government has announced the launch of the Integrated Global Financial Technology Capability Hub (I-GFTCH). The hub, developed in collaboration with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), will be formally inaugurated on August 21, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.
The initiative is a joint effort by the Department of Electronics & Information Technology and the Department of Higher Education, aimed at transforming Odisha into a global center of excellence in fintech innovation and talent development. Over the next five years, more than 7,000 students from all 30 districts will be trained in cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence, blockchain, InsurTech, and digital finance.
At the announcement event held at Krushi Bhawan Auditorium, key dignitaries including Electronics & IT Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling and Higher Education Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj emphasized the transformative potential of the program. Dr. Mahaling highlighted the collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a strategic step toward integrating Odisha’s youth into the $1.8 trillion global digital economy.

✨The I-GFTCH will offer a five-month hybrid certification program combining online modules, a two-week on-campus immersion in Bhubaneswar, and internships with leading firms. The curriculum is aligned with the National Education Policy and designed to ensure job readiness and industry relevance.
Virtual addresses from GFTN leaders Sopnendu Mohanty and James Boe reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Odisha’s ambition to become a premier fintech destination. The initiative also includes plans for a Centre of Excellence to foster entrepreneurship through mentoring, incubation, and venture support.
