Bhubaneswar, Apr 3: The Odisha Universities (Amendment) Bill was passed in the State Assembly in the wee hours of Thursday.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida were present in the Assembly throughout the marathon session.

✨Senior MLAs Rajendra Pratap Swain, Arun Sahoo, Ganeswar Behera and Dhruba Sahoo presented strong arguments against the bill. Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj countered the opposition with firm rebuttals. Almost all ministers and legislators from the ruling party were present.
BJD legislator Arun Sahoo spoke for over three hours, Ranendra Pratap Swain for over one and a half hours, and Ganeswar Behera for over an hour, presenting their arguments. Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj also countered the Opposition leaders for over an hour. After 12 and a half hours of extensive debates and discussions, the Odisha Universities (Amendment) Bill 2024 was passed.
