Bhubaneswar, Apr 13: Odisha is likely to witness thundershowers caused by nor'westers for the next seven days, according to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.


The weather office has also predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places over the districts of south Odisha during next 24 hours. It has issued a yellow warning, predicting heavy rains, to the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and 13 districts.


Besides, the Meteorological Centre has predicted nor'westers in the districts of Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagda, Koraput, Gajpapti, and Puri. These districts will experience gusty wind speeds reaching 50 to 60 kmph. Some other districts will also witness gusty wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph.

The department has predicted that the quantum of rain will increase by April 14 and the State will have such weather conditions till April 18.


The highest rainfall of 22.4 mm was recorded at Udayagiri in Gajapati district in the last 24 hours. The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.4 degrees Celsius.
