Bhubaneswar, Sep 7: Odisha is set to experience relentless rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing yellow and orange alerts for multiple districts until September 13.
The monsoon trough currently lies over Gopalpur, while a cyclonic circulation has developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, affecting southern Odisha and parts of north Andhra Pradesh.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the system is active between 3.1 and 5.8 km above sea level, intensifying the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state.

✨On September 8, districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati are under yellow alert for heavy rainfall. Simultaneously, lightning warnings have been issued for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, and Ganjam.
The alert continues on September 9 with 19 districts flagged for thunderstorm activity. On September 10, Malkangiri and Koraput are expected to receive intense rainfall, while September 11 brings orange warnings for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj. Rayagada and Koraput will face similar conditions on September 12.
Despite the widespread alerts, no specific warnings have
been issued for fishermen.
