Odisha To Set Up Industrial Park Exclusively For Women Entrepreneurs: CM Mohan Majhi

CM Majhi also said a special cell for women entrepreneurs will also be opened at the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL).

Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: In a bid to achieve the vision of Viksit Odisha by 2036 and Viksit Bharat by 2047, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday said an industrial park exclusively for women entrepreneurs would be set up in the state.

Attending the plenary session on women entrepreneurship enabled by 'Subhadra' on the second day of the 'Utkarsh Odisha, Make in Odisha Conclave, 2025' here today, CM Majhi said a special cell for women entrepreneurs will also be opened at the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL).

"To support and nurture women entrepreneurs, our government has decided to establish an Exclusive Industrial Park for Women and a Special Cell in IPICOL to provide assistance and opportunities for women-led businesses," the Chief Minister said.

"This initiative marks a significant step toward creating a more inclusive and sustainable business ecosystem, where women can thrive and contribute to Odisha's economic growth," he added. 

The Chief Minister said that he was hopeful that these two measures will encourage women to start business independently. He also sought suggestions from women business leaders on how to further raise women's participation in business.

The session prepares a roadmap to shape the future of 'Subhadra' industry in the state by interacting with industry leaders on creating employment opportunities for women of Odisha.

Additional Chief Secretary, Industries department, Hemant Sharma said the state already has a 'Subhadra Yojana' under which women empowerment is being done. "We want to link the Subhadra Yojana to entrepreneurship. Women will be encouraged by providing them a suitable platform," he said.

On the second day of the conclave, plenary sessions are being held on skill in Odisha, renewable energy and equipment, textile and apparel, agriculture & food procession, tourism development, health care, pharma & biotechnology, industrial infrastructure-ports, airport, railways & roadways and film & media.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day business summit, 'Utkarsa Odisha-Make in Odisha -2025 Conclave’, the flagship Global Investment Summit hosted by the Odisha government from January 28 to 29 at the Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. 

Inviting the business leaders attending the summit, PM Modi said, "This is the right time to invest in Odisha. In this journey of development for Odisha, your investment in Odisha will take you to new heights of success. This is Modi’s guarantee.”
