Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: In a bid to preserve Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, the state government has announced financial incentives for 50+ Years old Durga Puja mandaps ahead of the festive season.
The Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture has issued directives to all district collectors to identify and submit details of traditional mandaps that have been celebrating Durga Puja for over 50 years.
Mandaps will be categorized into three age brackets: mandaps over 100 years old will receive ₹1 lakh, aged 75–99 years will get ₹75,000, and aged 50–74 years will be awarded ₹50,000.

District administrations have been instructed to prepare and submit the list within two days. In districts where no mandap is older than 50 years, details of the two oldest mandaps must be provided.
This initiative aims to recognize and support longstanding
community efforts in maintaining cultural traditions. The financial aid will
help these mandaps continue their legacy and enhance festive celebrations.
