Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: Odisha is set to host the Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2026) conclave in Bhubaneswar from January 21 to 23, aiming to strengthen rural livelihoods and empower the farming community across the state, Officials said on Monday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the
three-day event at Janata Maidan, themed “Innovative interventions in Fisheries
and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha.” The conclave will bring together farmers,
entrepreneurs, and women self-help group members from every block of the state.
Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister
Gokulananda Mallik said the conclave would serve as a platform of awareness and
prosperity for fish and livestock farmers. He highlighted ongoing initiatives
to make Odisha self-reliant in milk, meat, eggs, and fish production.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati will attend the valedictory
session. According to official sources, more than 8,000 participants are
expected over three days. In recognition of excellence, 348 farmers and
entrepreneurs—six from each sub-division—will be honoured as “Champions” for
their achievements in fisheries and livestock. Additionally, 20 officers from
the Fisheries and ARD sector will be felicitated for their contributions.
A special programme, “Ask the Minister,” will allow farmers
to directly raise queries with the Fisheries Minister, who will respond to
their concerns. Senior officials and subject experts will also engage in open
discussions with stakeholders.
The conclave will feature exhibitions, panel discussions,
and interactive sessions, positioning Odisha as a hub for innovation in
fisheries and livestock while reinforcing its vision for a self-reliant rural
economy.
