Bhubaneswar, May 2: In a major move to enhance air connectivity in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced plans to develop a greenfield airport in Paradeep, along with upgrades to key airports across the state.
During a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, CM Majhi reviewed preparations for the Shri Jagannath International Airport (SJIA) in Puri and modernization of Rourkela Airport. The state government aims to strengthen regional connectivity by upgrading airstrips in Jaipur, Dandbose, Rangeilunda, Gotma, Satibhata, Raisuan, Tusura, Jamadarpali, Malkangiri, Amarda Road, and Utkela.
Additionally, heliports will be constructed in 15 districts, and the Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre (BPAC) at Birasal airstrip in Dhenkanal will undergo development. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been appointed as the nodal agency to expedite aviation-related projects.

✨CM Majhi emphasized the creation of world-class aviation infrastructure, including airports, helipads, and drone hubs, while modernizing existing airports and enhancing flight connectivity. Plans also include restructuring the Directorate of Aviation with upgraded infrastructure and skilled professionals.
The meeting was attended by Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other key officials, all supporting the vision to transform Odisha into a significant air travel and cargo hub.
