Bhubaneswar, Jun 9: In a major initiative to honour Odisha’s historical figures, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik has announced the development of birthplaces of freedom fighters across the state.
Under the Mahapurush Adarsh Gram Yojana, 100 to 150 villages will be transformed with improved infrastructure, roads, and employment opportunities.
The Panchayati Raj Department will oversee the project to ensure these historically significant villages receive the recognition and development they deserve. Despite their historical importance, many of these places have remained neglected over the years. This initiative aims to change that by enhancing roads, public amenities, and livelihood opportunities for residents.
A committee has been formed to manage the execution of the plan, with the Chief Secretary leading at the state level, District Collectors at the district level, and Block Development Officers (BDOs) at the block level serving as chairpersons.
The Mahapurush Adarsh Gram Yojana ensures historical villages and panchayats will get structured development, with a focus on connectivity, employment generation, and preservation of heritage.
This ambitious project reflects the Odisha government’s commitment to honouring the legacy of freedom fighters and improving the lives of those residing in these culturally significant areas.
