Bhubaneswar, July 25: Odisha is poised to become the textile powerhouse of Eastern India, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said while inaugurating the state’s first-ever Odisha TEX 2025 conclave in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
CM Majhi reiterated the state’s vision to create over 5 lakh jobs by 2030, with expanded textile clusters in Balangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack. “Odisha TEX 2025 is not just an event—it’s a declaration that Odisha is ready to lead Eastern India’s textile revolution,” he said
The event marked a major milestone in the state’s industrial roadmap, with the signing of 33 MoUs worth Rs7,808 crore, promising to generate 53,300 employment opportunities across the textile and apparel sector.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated two state-of-the-art textile parks, with plans to launch five more parks in the coming months. These parks will offer plug-and-play infrastructure and are expected to attract global-standard manufacturing units.

More than 160 national and international companies, including leading brands, participated in the conclave, showcasing Odisha’s growing appeal as an investment destination.
In a significant announcement, CM Majhi declared a monthly wage hike of Rs1,000 for textile workers. Male workers will now receive Rs 6,000 (increased from Rs 5,000), and female workers Rs7,000 (incresed from Rs 6,000). He also urged government employees to wear handwoven Odisha textiles once a week to promote local craftsmanship and cultural pride.
The conclave was attended by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain and Handloom & Textiles Minister Pradeep Bala Samant, who emphasized the dual focus on modern textile investments and the preservation of Odisha’s rich handloom heritage.
