Odisha Surges Ahead With Double-Engine Govt: PM Modi

Jharsuguda, Sep 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday affirmed that Odisha is making swift strides in development, driven by the strength of the double-engine government model.

 

Speaking to a large crowd at Amalipali Ground here in Odisha, PM Modi announced the rollout of development initiatives valued at thousands of crores, reinforcing the state’s commitment to the vision of ‘Viksit Odisha’ pledged during the Assembly elections 18 months ago.

 

Semiconductor Boost and Youth Empowerment

PM Modi announced the approval of two semiconductor units and a semiconductor park for Odisha, marking a significant step toward industrial transformation. He envisioned a future where chips used in everyday electronics—from phones to cars—will be manufactured in Odisha, crediting the youth’s potential and talent.

In a major digital leap, BSNL’s indigenous 4G network was launched from Jharsuguda, comprising nearly one lakh towers. This initiative is expected to benefit over two crore people and connect 30,000 previously underserved villages with high-speed Internet, ushering in a new era of rural connectivity.

Farmers, Tribals, and Infrastructure Gains

Highlighting the GST ‘Savings Festival,’ PM Modi noted that farmers now save Rs 40,000 on tractor purchases compared to the earlier Rs 70,000 tax burden. He also emphasized reduced GST on kendu leaves, benefiting tribal collectors. Odisha’s infrastructure is seeing rapid upgrades with six Vande Bharat trains, modernization of 60 railway stations, and expanded air connectivity via VSS Airport.

 

The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to empowering the poor and underprivileged, stating that Odisha is poised to enter a decade of prosperity.
