Sambalpur, Jan 17: The Income Tax Department on Friday conducted multiple raids at the houses and properties of Brajakishore Das, a super-class contractor and brother of late BJD leader and Cabinet Minister Naba Charan Das, here in Odisha on the allegations of evasion of crores of rupees in tax.
Brajakishore reportedly owns a construction firm, a transport company, mines, and stone quarries and has been engaged in real estate business.
According to sources, hundreds of officials from the Income Tax Department are conducting searches at around 20 locations in Odisha including Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur linked to several businessmen and contactors.
