Meteorological officials have attributed the dip in temperature to the influence of northwesterly winds sweeping across the state. They have cautioned that the cold wave will continue for the next few days, urging residents to take necessary precautions, especially in vulnerable hilly and tribal regions.
The biting cold has already started affecting daily life in interior districts, with people resorting to bonfires and warm clothing. Schools and colleges in colder regions are expected to adjust schedules to ensure the safety of students. Farmers, particularly in Kandhamal and Kalahandi, are also bracing for the impact of low temperatures on crops.
The persistence of cold conditions is likely to make this
one of the harshest spells of winter in recent years for Odisha.
