Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: Odisha is reeling under an intense cold wave as temperatures continue to plummet across the state. In Bhubaneswar, the mercury dipped to 12.9°C, marking the coldest night in the last 25 years. The chill has been more severe in interior districts, where temperatures have dropped below 10°C.
G. Udayagiri recorded 5.4°C, Semiliguda 6.1°C, Daringbadi

✨The weather department has predicted that the cold conditions will ease after 24 hours, with night temperatures expected to rise gradually. However, the immediate forecast suggests that the next day will remain harsh, with bone-chilling cold persisting in several regions.
Adding to the changing weather dynamics, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22. Meteorologists believe this system could bring rainfall to parts of Odisha in the coming week. The development is expected to reduce the severity of the cold wave and increase night temperatures across the state.
The sudden drop in temperature has also impacted tourism in
hill stations like Daringbadi, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Odisha,”
where visitors are experiencing freezing conditions. While the cold wave has
disrupted normal life, it has also brought a unique winter charm to the state,
with foggy mornings and crisp air dominating the landscape.
