Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Odisha is experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures, with Bhubaneswar recording its coldest night of the season at 14.1°C on Thursday.
This marks the lowest temperature recorded in the capital city this month, following a steady decline over the past few days: 14.8°C on November 10, 16.2°C on November 11, and 15.5°C on November 12.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that a cold wave has begun sweeping across the state, with several cities registering temperatures below 15°C.
Rourkela recorded a chilling 10.5°C, while dense fog
blanketed Koraput and Sundargarh early this morning. Fog was also reported in
parts of interior Odisha, including Bhubaneswar.

The IMD noted that minimum temperatures in interior and southern coastal Odisha have dropped by 2 to 3 degrees, while some regions in southern interior Odisha saw a slight increase of 2 degrees.
Cities like Phulbani, Sundargarh, Rourkela, and Jharsuguda recorded night temperatures around 10°C on Wednesday. Keonjhar and Angul registered 12°C, while Dhenkanal, Koraput, and Bhadrak hovered around 13°C.
The weather department has forecast further decline in night
temperatures over the next couple of days, with mercury expected to fall by
another 2 to 3 degrees. This signals the onset of a more intense winter phase
across Odisha.
