Odisha Set To Brace For Scorching Heatwave After Apr 20

Key Points
Meteorological Center, Bhubaneswar has predicted that the daytime temperature will rise by two to three degrees Celsius after three days.
Bhubaneswar, April 18: Odisha is likely to get an intense heatwave as daytime temperature is set to rise from April 20. Meteorologists have predicted a surge in temperature across the state, with coastal regions potentially reaching a blistering 44-45°C on April 23 and 24.
The sudden shift in weather patterns comes as dry northwesterly and southwesterly winds dominate, cutting off the cooling influence of oceanic breezes. As a result, cities like Sonepur, Balangir, Titlagarh, and Jharsuguda are likely to experience temperatures exceeding 42°C, while parts of Sundargarh and Rourkela might hover around 41°C. Even traditionally moderate coastal zones—like Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh—could feel the heat at around 40°C.
