Odisha: Senior IAS Officers Asked To Visit Villages To Review Development Works

Key Points

Senior IAS officers in Odisha have been directed to visit villages and review the implementation of government schemes in 29 aspirational blocks, marking a renewed focus on grassroots accountability and development.

Bhubaneswar, June 25: In a renewed push for grassroots governance, the Odisha government on Wednesday directed senior IAS officers to leave their desks in the State capital and head to the villages.

Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg issued letters to various departments, instructing secretaries to conduct 2–3-day field visits between June and August to assess the implementation of government schemes.

The initiative will focus on 29 aspirational blocks across 16 districts, with officers expected to visit at least one panchayat, especially remote or tribal areas, and evaluate the effectiveness of development programs. They will also meet with district collectors to prepare localized action plans and address region-specific challenges.
