Odisha SDIPRO Exam: OPSC Awards Grace Marks After Question Paper Error

Key Points

The written examination, conducted on March 29 and 30, 2025, under Advertisement No. 05 of 2024–25, included a descriptive paper on JMC, which was a 94-mark paper instead of 100-mark paper.

Cuttack, May 6: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced that all candidates who appeared for the Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer (SDIPRO) (OIS-II) recruitment examination will receive six grace marks due to a printing error in the Journalism and Mass Communication paper.

The written examination, conducted on March 29 and 30, 2025, under Advertisement No. 05 of 2024–25, included a descriptive paper on Journalism and Mass Communication. However, candidates later discovered that the total marks for the paper were 94 instead of the expected 100 due to an error in the marking scheme for Questions 08, 09, and 10.

Following concerns raised by aspirants, OPSC reviewed the issue and acknowledged the discrepancy. In an official statement, the Commission confirmed that six additional marks would be awarded to all candidates, ensuring fairness in the evaluation process.

Candidates had previously expressed frustration over the missing marks, fearing that the discrepancy could impact their final scores and rankings. Many aspirants emphasised that every mark matters in competitive exams, urging authorities to take corrective action.

The SDIPRO examination plays a crucial role in the selection of officers under the Odisha Information Service (OIS), making accuracy in marking essential. The Commission’s decision to compensate for the error aims to maintain transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.

With the updated recruitment calendar, the Viva Voce test for the examination is expected to be conducted in June 2025, and results for the written exam will likely be published by the same time.
