Key Points

Schools across Odisha will reopen on June 20, instead of June 18, due to weather concerns.

Mothers can inspect meals, ensuring safe and hygienic food for students.

Bhubaneswar, Jun 20: The Odisha government has officially postponed the reopening of schools from June 18 to June 20, considering prevailing high temperatures and monsoon transition.

The School and Mass Education Department has issued directives to District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure a smooth reopening and proper implementation of the mid-day meal (MDM) program.

Key Directives for Schools

Mid-Day Meals from Day One: Schools must serve meals to students from the first day of reopening, ensuring nutritional support for children aged 6 to 14 years.
Food Quality Checks: Headmasters, Block Education Officers (BEOs), and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) will inspect food supplies to prevent contamination.
Parental Involvement: Parents, especially mothers, are encouraged to check meal quality, ensuring safe and hygienic food for students.

Hygiene & Safety Measures

The government has instructed schools to thoroughly clean and sanitize kitchens before reopening. DEOs, BEOs, and CRCCs will conduct random inspections to verify compliance with food safety protocols.
