Bhubaneswar, July 9: Odisha’s Water Resources Department has confirmed that there is no flood situation anywhere in the state, despite rising water levels in several rivers.
Chief Engineer Chandrasekhar Padhy stated that the current discharge at Mundali stands at 4.47 lakh cusecs, but the flow remains stable and is expected to gradually decrease.
At Hirakud Dam, four of the 20 opened gates have now been closed, leaving 16 gates operational to manage the inflow. The department is closely monitoring rainfall patterns, especially in Mayurbhanj district, which has received moderate showers.
The Subarnarekha River is currently flowing above the warning level at Rajghat, but still remains below the danger mark, alleviating immediate flood concerns. Officials attribute the rise in water level to inflow from Jharkhand’s under-construction Chandil Dam.
