Bhubaneswar, Dec 24: Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra on Tuesday chaired a high-level review of projects under the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY), aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure across Odisha.

 

The meeting, held at Kharavela Bhavan, was attended by Principal Secretary of the H&UD Department, Usha Padhee, Director of Municipal Administration Shri Arindam Dakua, senior officials, and representatives of all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) through video conferencing.

 

Officials reported that against an allocation of Rs1,200 crore for the current financial year, 6,700 projects have been approved, with Rs 796 crore already sanctioned. Dr. Mahapatra directed ULBs to expedite execution and ensure timely completion, stressing that delays would not be tolerated. He underscored that strict quality control must be maintained, as the scheme is designed to meet the aspirations of urban residents and transform the state’s urban landscape.

 

The Minister highlighted that all projects proposed by ULBs have received government approval and financial backing, and urged local bodies to swiftly move from approval to on-ground implementation. He emphasized adherence to standard designs and improved construction quality under MSBY to ensure durability and long-term benefits.

Principal Secretary Padhee called for coordinated teamwork and advance planning to achieve visible progress. She advised ULBs to proactively take up projects to ensure full utilization of sanctioned funds within the financial year.

 

The State Government reiterated its commitment to planned, time-bound, and quality-driven urban development. Officials stressed that MSBY projects must deliver tangible improvements in civic amenities, infrastructure, and overall quality of life for citizens across Odisha’s urban centers.

 

With thousands of projects already sanctioned, the government’s focus remains on execution efficiency, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana becomes a cornerstone of Odisha’s urban transformation.
