Berhampur, Nov 28: The Odisha Research Conclave–2025 at Berhampur University entered its second day on Friday with a strong call for “Vocal for Local” innovation, blending tradition with technology to create globally relevant yet locally rooted research. Academic leaders, industry experts, and policymakers came together to chart a roadmap for Viksit Odisha and contribute to the national vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2027.
Vice-Chancellors’ Meet
At the Vice-Chancellors’ deliberation, chaired by Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy of Fakir Mohan University, leaders emphasized inter-university collaboration to avoid duplication and promote localized research. Prof. Nibedita Nath, Prof. Kamaljit Singh, and other eminent heads highlighted the importance of public-oriented, innovative research leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for societal impact.
Industry–Academia Partnerships
A parallel session focused on strengthening industry–academia linkages. Experts including Prof. Supriti Mishra (IIM Bhubaneswar), Dr. Archana Choudhury (Birla Global University), Debadatta Mishra (Adani Foundation), and Harikrushna Panda (SBI) stressed outcome-driven research. They underscored that collaborative initiatives between universities and industries are vital for building Viksit Odisha and aligning with India’s development goals.

✨NEP-2020 Implementation
Later, a panel chaired by
Prof. Susmit Prasad Pani discussed effective implementation of the National
Education Policy (NEP)-2020. Former Vice-Chancellors Prof. Madhumita Das and
Prof. Aparajita Choudhury, along with Prof. Satrughna Panigrahi and Prof. Swarnamayee
Tripathy, recommended revamping curricula to focus on skill development,
professional education, and holistic student well-being.

Felicitations and Poster Presentations
Berhampur University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Geetanjali Dash felicitated participants, calling the conclave a “landmark step” toward research excellence. Poster presentations in Management and Social Sciences showcased innovative ideas, with awards to be announced on the final day.
Valedictory Ceremony
The concluding day will
feature an academic meeting of directors from premier institutes and a
valedictory ceremony honoring outstanding researchers. Padma Shri Prof. A.P.
Dash, former Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu and WHO
Advisor, will grace the event as Chief Guest on November 29.
