Odisha continued to reel under heat wave conditions as five place recorded 40 degree Celsius and above temperature by 2.30 PM on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Bhubaneswar, Apr 28: Odisha continued to reel under heat wave conditions as five place recorded 40 degree Celsius and above temperature by 2.30 PM on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Bhubaneswar was the hottest place in the State with mercury level reaching 43.2 degrees Celsius by 2.30 PM, followed by Keonjhar at 42.7 degrees Celsius, Chandbali at 42.2 degrees Celsius, Balasore at 41.4 degrees Celsius and Rourkela at 40.6 degrees Celsius.

Jharsuguda registered 39.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Sambalpur at 39.4  degrees Celsius, Hirakud at 37.8 degrees Celsius, Puri at 34.9 degrees Celsius, Gopalpur at 34.2 degrees Celsius and Paradip at 33.4 degrees Celsius.

The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicted that the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to further rise slightly by 2 degrees Celsius during the next 24 hours and no large change thereafter at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

The IMD, in its midday bulletin today, issued  red and orange warnings of heat wave conditions over several districts in the State till 8.30 AM on May 3.
