Legend holds that after Lord Jagannath returns to the temple following his nine-day chariot journey, Goddess Lakshmi, upset at being left behind, refuses entry to her divine consort. To reconcile, Lord Jagannath presents her with the sweet treat of rasagola-- a gesture symbolic of forgiveness and affection.
The celebration, initiated officially in 2015, continues to spotlight Odia cultural pride and culinary heritage. This year, sweet shops in Pahala, Salepur, and other cities reported record sales, with special rasagola-themed events and discounts delighting customers.
On the shores of Puri Beach, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik unveiled a breathtaking sand sculpture depicting divine reconciliation, drawing crowds and admiration.
