Viksit Odisha / Odisha Procures 20.46 Lakh Metric Tonnes Paddy In 2025-26 Rabi Season; Rs4,844 Cr MSP Disbursed

Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: Odisha achieved a significant milestone in the 2025-26 Rabi season by procuring 20.46 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 3,63,553 farmers, marking an increase from the 19.18 lakh tonnes procured in 2024-25. The procurement drive also ensured timely disbursement of Rs4,844 crore as Minimum Support Price (MSP) and input assistance to 3,63,149 farmers, officials said on Monday.

Building on this success, an Inter-Ministerial Committee meeting was convened to streamline preparations for the upcoming Kharif Paddy Procurement Season 2026-27. Chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the meeting was attended by senior Ministers and departmental secretaries.

Officials clarified that AgriStack registration is not mandatory, ensuring inclusivity for all farmers. Farmers can register at their nearest PACS or CSC centers, with 94,657 already enrolled for the Kharif season. Balasore district has recorded the highest number of registrations so far.

To prevent misinformation, awareness drives are being launched at Gram Panchayat and subdivision levels, with Village Agricultural Workers assisting farmers. Farmers will now receive two types of registration slips—one with AgriStack ID and another without—both valid for procurement.

AgriStack, an integrated digital platform, has so far registered around 6,00,000 farmers, generating unique IDs to facilitate access to government benefits. Special guidelines are also being framed for sharecroppers to address potential challenges.

The committee has set a target to register at least 50% of farmers for the Kharif season, with close coordination among Agriculture, Food Supplies, Cooperation, and Revenue departments. The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no farmer in Odisha is excluded from selling their paddy crop.
