All private buses to resume operations in the state from tomorrow.
Bhubaneswar, July 11: All the private buses in Odisha are set to resume operations tomorrow, ending a four-day long period of disruption caused by an ongoing driver union protest. The announcement was made following a key meeting of the Private Bus Owners’ Association held in Puri.
The decision comes after four days of halted bus services across the state due to the agitation led by the Driver Mahasangh, demanding fulfillment of their seven-point charter. Despite multiple rounds of discussions with state ministers, no resolution has been reached.
Citing significant financial losses and widespread inconvenience to passengers, the Private Bus Owners' Association declared its withdrawal of support from the strike. They emphasized the need to restore public transportation and ease the movement of essential goods, which had been severely impacted.

✨The drivers' union, however, remains firm in its stance. Association President Prashant Menduli reiterated that the protest will not end until the government issues a written commitment to their demands.
Menduli also appealed to drivers from all 30 districts to continue peaceful demonstrations and cautioned against causing disorder on public roads, warning of possible government action.
This rift between private bus owners and the driver community highlights the broader challenges in balancing labour rights and operational sustainability within Odisha's transport sector.
