this connwction Nayagarh, April 16: In a significant step towards tackling corruption, vigilance officials arrested Odisha Police Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar Srichandan on charges for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 4,000 from a complainant, an official said on Wednesday.
Srichandan, posted at Sarankul Police Station in Nayagarh district, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a Rs 4,000 bribe as a bribe for registering a case. The bribe was solicited in exchange for assistance in a case involving the complainant's father.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Srichandan and seized in presence of witnesses, the official added.

✨Following his arrest, vigilance officials launched comprehensive searches at Srichandan’s residence and office. A case has been registered against Srichandan in this connwction under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
According to sources, Srichandan joined the police service in 2017 and had been serving at Sarankul Police Station since October 2024.
