this connwction Nayagarh, April 16: In a significant step towards tackling corruption, vigilance officials arrested Odisha Police Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar Srichandan on charges for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 4,000 from a complainant, an official said on Wednesday.
Srichandan, posted at Sarankul Police Station in Nayagarh district, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a Rs 4,000 bribe as a bribe for registering a case. The bribe was solicited in exchange for assistance in a case involving the complainant's father.

✨The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Srichandan and seized in presence of witnesses, the official added.
Following his arrest, vigilance officials launched comprehensive searches at Srichandan’s residence and office. A case has been registered against Srichandan in this connwction under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
According to sources, Srichandan joined the police service in 2017 and had been serving at Sarankul Police Station since October 2024.
