Dhenkanal, Feb 3: Odisha Police allegedly picked up the mother of a toddler named Pihu, who went missing since August 2020, from Govindpur in Dhenkanal district on Saturday when she was heading to Sambalpur to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The police action came when the woman, identified as  Monalisa Nayak, reportedly on her way to Sambalpur to meet PM Modi seeking a CBI probe into the missing case.

PM Modi will arrive in Sambalpur this afternoon. He will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 68,000 crore in the State today.

Two and a half-year-old girl Pihu went missing from August 9, 2020 while playing outside her house at Madhusudanpur under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district.

Pihu's parents immediately lodged a complaint with police alleging that their daughter was kidnapped. After failing to get justice from the local police, they met Jajpur SP and Collector but to no avail.

The parents then went to Bhubaneswar and staged dharna several times but the missing girl was not traced yet.
