Bhadrak, Apr 27: Police on Sunday seized an ambulance that was being used for the illegal transportation of cattle. This shocking method is the latest tactic employed by cattle smugglers to evade the authorities.

According to reports, an illegal transaction was being carried out in an ambulance vehicle from the Tihidi area when the smugglers, upon spotting the police vehicle, abandoned the ambulance and fled from the spot, leaving the animals behind.

However, the cows were immediately rescued, and the vehicle was seized and brought to the Puruna bazaar police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Puruna Bazaar police stopped another pick-up van smuggling cattle and detained the driver.

Authorities have recovered as many as 10 cows from the two vehicles and detained the driver. An investigation is underway to determine further links in the illegal transport network, said city DSP Sambit Majhi.
